** Rick Mercado **
Rev. Blues
Band
Rick (Ricardo) Mercado is a native from the West side
of San Anto. He's played trumpet from Junior High on
through his High School years at Edge Wood High
class of 77. Rick did a little bit of Tejano music only
because he has a brother Panchio Rodriguez who
sings and his brothers Johnny and Chayo both of
which played alto sax and tenor. Rick left that dream
to pursue a boxing Career, but he was trying to do it
without any knowledge of God. He eventually got hook
up with the wrong crowd.

Being around in the 70s was hard as it was for most
troublesome young men his age. For some of us we
can recall what the 70's where like. Rick than took a
25 yr layoff from any kind of contact with his trumpet. It
wasn't until 1998, when Rick turned his life around
from all the garbage that he had partaken of. He
totally surrendered to the Lord. He didn’t even own a
Trumpet any more, but a brother from another church
called him out of the blue and blessed him with a new
one. Rick knows that it was God that put it in that
man's heart to do that. Thanks to brother Santos, the
blues has always been Rick's cup of soup for his soul.
Rick has 4 beautiful kids Patrick Blake, Derick Austin,
Summerlilly and his oldest son Ricky Jr. graduated
from Rice University. Rick's beautiful and devoted Wife
Diana V. Mercado has always been his prayer warrior.

Rick Mercado: "I want to first thank the Lord and then
Pastor Tony Cortez and his lovely wife Becky for this
opportunity. I would also like to thank all my teachers
for putting up with me, love you all."
