Rev. Blues
Band
REV. BLUES was formed in the summer of 2000 by changing its name and style. What
started out as somewhat of a joke has now become a full time ministry. The idea started out
with a song entitled "Adam and Eve had the blues" One Sunday morning when the band
formally known as Isaiah 61 was wrapping up praise & worship. They decided to publicly
present their first original blues song for the first time. The band was surprised to see the
reactions of the people as the song was received very well.
After the service a man approached the band and asked, "what's the name of the blues
band?” Well, at that point there really wasn't a blues band. So at that point the man
commented "Tony's a reverend and he's playing the blues perhaps the band should be called
Reverend Blues." And well folks that's how it all got started.

The turn of the Millennium was a mark of a new beginning for Rev. Blues. Just like a child
searches for his own identity the band was about to find its own. The band has played a variety
of Spanish Christian music in the past for many years under different names. This group of
guys broke new ground as they transitioned from their Spanish roots over into the English
market. Their style by choice was the blues as it was easy to deliver the gospel message
addressing life’s everyday issues. The band has been able to incorporate Spanish lyrics and
its musical arrangements with the blues. The bands exploration experience has been great
one and is only expected to get even better.
